London Broncos have pulled out of a deal to sign Jarrad Hickey for the 2012 Super League season.
The 26-year-old Australian prop had joined the club from Wakefield.
But the deal collapsed because Hickey would have been their sixth non-Federation trained player when Super League rules only allow five.
"London Broncos have done everything within their means to try and rectify this unfortunate situation without success," said a club statement.
"The club will now work with Jarrad to assist him duing this difficult time and continue to explore alternative playing opportunities for him."
