Sheffield Eagles coach Mark Aston says they can get to the final of the Northern Rail Cup.
The Eagles begin their cup campaign on Sunday with a trip to Workington and the coach is expecting a tough opener.
Aston told BBC Radio Sheffield: "We've got a group of people that potentially can get to the final, so we've got to give it our best shot.
"Workington is hostile and it's going to be tough but we just need to get our heads down and go about our business."
The former Challenge Cup winner wants to improve on last season where they reached the grand final only to lose 40-4 to Featherstone last October.
"The challenge is for us to do a little bit better than last year, we got to the grand final but in the cup we were disappointing," Aston added.
"We're pretty happy with the people we've brought in and we know a lot about them because they've been here since November.
"We've got competition for places now and at times last season we didn't have that and now that we have got it people will be looking over their shoulders."
