York City Knights have moved to ease their problems at half-back by signing Danny Nicklas on dual registration from Super League club Hull FC.
The 20-year-old is a member of Hull's first-team squad, having signed professionally for them in 2010.
Knights' player-coach Chris Thorman told BBC Radio York: "He's had a fair few opportunities actually and they were quite reluctant to let him go.
"We have been working on getting him to the club pretty much all season."
He continued: ""Everybody is aware of our injury situation and we don't really have any other ball players apart from myself.
"Fortunately now I've got another one and I've got a good one. We can't wait for Danny to become involved.
"He was predominantly in the reserves when I was at Hull, but I'm looking forward to playing with him and I hope he's looking forward to playing with me at the Knights.
"After speaking to him on the phone, he's really positive and really excited about coming across."
The Knights are also trying to bring forward Chris Green back to the club on dual registration from Hull, and in talks with another half-back as well.
"We're actually looking to get Chris back for next week and hopefully we'll know a little bit more about that soon," Thorman added.
