Crusaders claim welcome victory but Scorpions lose

North Wales Crusaders ended a run of two defeats with a 30-28 win over Oldham Roughyeds at the Racecourse Ground in Co-Operative Championship 1.

Centre Leon Brennan scored a hat-trick of tries, with Billy Sheen, Adam Clay and sub Jono Smith also crossing.

Crusaders are seventh in the table, a point ahead of South Wales Scorpions who lost 34-18 at Whitehaven.

The Welsh side had led 18-16 at half-time thanks to tries from James Greenwood, Tom Morgan and Ashley Bateman plus Jamie Murphy's immaculate kicking.

But Scorpions could not contain Whitehaven's second-half fightback.
