RFL bans Rochdale Hornets' John Stankevitch

Rochdale Hornets sporting director John Stankevitch has been banned from rugby league until he pays outstanding fines.

He had been fined £1,000, £500 of which was suspended, for abusing a match official following a Northern Rail Cup tie between Rochdale and Keighley.

Stankevitch had also been ordered to forfeit £250 which has been suspended from a previous misconduct charge.

He has now been banned by the Rugby Football League from any involvement in games and the business of member clubs.

An RFL Operational Rules Tribunal said Stankevitch had "committed blatant and deliberate misconduct in his wilful disregard for RFL Operational Rules in his failure to pay fines" imposed by previous tribunals.

It said the ban would stay in place until the fines had been paid in full.

Stankevitch stepped down as coach of the Championship One club earlier this month, but stayed with the club as sporting director.
