Workington Town chairman Dave Bowden has confirmed he will stand down from the post and his role as a director.
Bowden has been involved at Derwent Park for almost a decade helping them from the bottom end of the Championship One to promotion last term.
"Change is long overdue to freshen things up," Bowden said.
"The club needs to add more people to the board to divide the workload and that is something we will be working on."
Despite stepping down, Bowden will remain with Workington in some capacity during 2013, notably with the club's home ground one of the host venues for the forthcoming Rugby League World Cup in October.
"There are other key projects connected with moving the club forward," he said.
"I'm delighted that the board of directors and I have agreed that I will continue to work these through.
"Of course we have the World Cup games to host. It would be impossible for the club and myself to do all of this under the current structure and day to day responsibilities."
