Castleford Tigers winger Kirk Dixon will miss the opening six weeks of the new Super League season after tearing a calf muscle.
The 28-year-old suffered the injury in training last week.
Coach Ian Millward said: "He was out for seven months after undergoing neck surgery as well as having six months out with a shoulder injury the year before, so I really feel for him.
"He is our best goal-kicker so there is no doubt it is a blow for us."
