Wigan prop Greg Burke has agreed a new contract that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2016 season.

The deal also includes an option to extend it by a further 12 months.

head coach Shaun Wane has given Burke his chance and the 20-year-old has excelled in the Warriors pack.

Wigan-born Burke made his first-team debut against Warrington Wolves in February and has gone on to make 11 appearances so far this season.

He follows to the club, who will lose England prop Lee Mossop to Australian NRL side Parramatta Eels at the end of the Super League campaign.

"Greg has really flourished this season and, with injuries, has probably had more game time so far than he or I probably expected," Wane told the club website.

"He has done a great job and is another young player who has learned our system coming through the academy. He has a good attitude and is keen to learn."

Burke added: "As a local lad, I am proud to play for Wigan and I am thrilled to have signed a deal for the next three seasons.

"I have really enjoyed my opportunities in the first team so far and am looking forward to continue to work hard and try to earn my place as a regular within the squad."
