Widnes Vikings: Jack Owens rewarded with new contract
Teenager Jack Owens has signed an extended contract that will keep him with Widnes Vikings until 2016.
The 18-year-old winger still had more than a year remaining on his existing deal at the Stobart Stadium.
"Retaining the senior players in our squad is important," head coach Denis Betts told the club website.
"It is equally as important for us to remember that the future of this club lies in our emerging talent. Nobody encapsulates that more than Jack."
Betts added: "We wanted to retain him and reward him with an extended contract. By doing so, we're now able to keep him at the club and look after him for a much longer period.
"Jack can go as far as he wants in this game. What we have to do is create an environment and a platform for him to be able to fulfil his ambition and his dreams."
Captain Jon Clarke, full-back Rhys Hanbury and winger Patrick Ah Van have all recently signed new contracts with the Vikings.
