Widnes Vikings full-back Shaun Briscoe has left the club with immediate effect by mutual consent.
The former England international's 18-month spell with the Vikings has been disrupted by injuries.
And the 30-year-old former Wigan, Hull FC and Hull KR player has only played five Super League games this year.
"This will enable him to pursue other options that will provide him with more regular playing opportunities," said Vikings chief executive James Rule.
Briscoe has also spent time on a dual-registration deal at Championship side Workington Town this season.
"I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the Widnes fans for the support they've shown me in my 18 months at the club," he said.
"It's been a frustrating time with injuries and not playing as much as I would like to have, but I'd like to wish the boys and the club the very best for the future."
