Hull FC full-back Shannon McDonnell is set to miss the rest of the season with a hamstring injury.
The 26-year-old suffered the injury in Sunday's Challenge Cup semi-final win over Warrington.
The Australian made 19 Super League appearances for the Black and Whites this season after joining from local rivals Hull KR.
"Unfortunately it's a very nasty injury which may require surgery," coach Peter Gentle told BBC Radio Humberside."
"He's devastated, especially with the World Cup around the corner too."
