Catalan Dragons prop Jamal Fakir signs one-year deal
France international prop Jamal Fakir has signed a new one-year contract at Catalan Dragons, with an option for a further 12 months.
The 31-year-old made 22 appearances in the 2013 season for the Dragons, scoring two tries, and racked up his 150th outing earlier in the campaign.
"I arrived at the club in 2003 and I'm really proud to celebrate my 10 years here," Fakir said.
"I want to share my experience with the young players who are coming through."
He was part of the club's inaugural Super League campaign in 2006, but missed the 2007 Challenge Cup final defeat by St Helens because of a season-ending cruciate ligament injury.
With fellow and Julian Bousquet, 22, continuing his development, head coach Laurent Frayssinous sees the Moroccan-born front rower as a key part of the squad.
"Jamal proved this season again he could be one of the best forwards in the competition when he is at his best level," Frayssinous said.
"We will need him next season, his quality and his experience will be valuable in the squad."
