Whitehaven have appointed former Catalan Dragons reserve-team coach Steve Deakin as head coach for the 2015 Championship season.
He replaces former Castleford and Gateshead boss Dave Woods at the Recreation Ground following his exit at the end of last season.
Deakin left St Esteve, the Dragons' reserve grade that plays in the French championship, earlier this month.
"I'm very excited to be taking the job," Deakin told BBC Radio Cumbria.
The former Huddersfield, London, Keighley and Sheffield coach was a success at Catalans, helping to produce talented players such as Julien Bousquet, Morgan Escare and Eloi Pelissier.
His involvement at the Stade Gilbert Brutus also brought him within the coaching circle of the first-grade squad, while he forged a style of football that helped St Esteve to the French Elite Grand Final in 2013.
"The style will be altered slightly as you want the style to suit the players you've got," he added.
"What we played at St Esteve suited those players, but it might not be the type of style they can play in England, so I need to watch plenty of video and do enough training sessions.
"I am sure we can come up with a style of football that will be very pleasing to watch and hopefully successful."
He also had a stint at Haven's neighbours Barrow Raiders in 2009.
