David Faiumu leaves Huddersfield Giants after play-off loss
Huddersfield have confirmed that former New Zealand and Samoa hooker David Faiumu is to leave the club following their Super League play-off exit.
The 31-year-old played the last of his 152 games for the Giants in Friday's 18-16 preliminary semi-final loss to Catalan Dragons.
"He has been a great professional," said Giants coach Paul Anderson.
"He has spent this year struggling with injuries but he made the choice to play on as we needed him."
The Huddersfield boss continued: "He is something special. 'Fuey' is a credit to himself and his family."
Faiumu, who joined the Giants from Australian National Rugby League side North Queensland Cowboys in 2008, made 22 Super League appearances to help Huddersfield win the League Leaders' Shield in 2013.
