Stanley Gene handed permanent Gateshead head coach post
Gateshead Thunder have appointed former Hull KR academy coach Stanley Gene as their permanent full-time head coach for the 2015 League One season.
Gene took on the Thunder post on a part-time basis at the beginning of the 2014 campaign and led the club to the Championship One play-offs.
He was released from his role with Super League side Hull KR this summer, after three years with the Robins.
"I'm really proud of what the team achieved this season," Gene said.
"My focus now is on having another good year in 2015."
Thunder were taken over by Newcastle Falcons owner Semore Kurdi midway through last season.
