Wigan Warriors have signed utility forward Larne Patrick from Huddersfield on a season-long swap deal, with back-rower Jack Hughes going the other way.
Wales international Patrick, 26, has made 127 appearances for the Giants since 2009, scoring 28 tries.
Hughes, 22, has featured 75 times for Wigan since making his debut in 2011.
"When Wigan made their desire to sign Larne known, we had similarly expressed an interest in Jack," said Giants managing director Richard Thewlis.
"It was really down to the players themselves to decide if a move was in their interests."
Wigan academy graduate Hughes, who has featured for England's second-string national side, scored three tries in 19 league appearances last season.
Meanwhile, Patrick managed to score six tries in 20 games during an injury-hit 2014 after damaging his knee in the season opener against Wigan.
