St Helens will sign Adam Quinlan from National Rugby League side Parramatta Eels to ease their full-back problems.

The 22-year-old Australian has agreed to join Saints as full-backs Shannon McDonnell and Jonny Lomax are out, while Paul Wellens retired last week.

Quinlan joined Parramatta from St George Illawarra Dragons in January.

"We're literally just waiting for visas now and we can get the kid over and get him playing," Saints head coach Keiron Cunningham told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"As soon as we can get him, we need him."

Quinlan, who can also play half-back, has failed to break into the first team at the Eels and has been out playing at Wentworthville Magpies.

"He's very much like Johnny Lomax," added Cunningham. "He's very explosive, super quick and an ex-half-back who's got a super understanding of the game.

"He's going to be exciting. We looked at Adam before we went with Shannon and he decided he didn't want to come over at that point in time."
