Paul Wellens: St Helens missed team spirit in Hull FC defeat

St Helens need to find the team spirit that took them to Grand Final success last season in response to Friday's defeat by Hull FC, says former player Paul Wellens.
Head coach Keiron Cunningham was angered by Saints' display, which saw them concede 26 points after half-time to lose 32-22 in Super League.
He threatened to drop some members of the squad for the performance.
"He'll be voicing the same to the players this week," Wellens said.
The former Saints full-back, who retired in June, told the BBC Super League Show: "We pride ourselves at St Helens for our work ethic. When you look back to last year's Grand Final success, that was based on that willingness to work hard for each other.
"That determination clearly wasn't there on Friday night and that is what will have upset Keiron the most.
"There's a fair bit of soul-searching for the team this week looking forward to the Huddersfield game."
Saints, who welcome the fourth-placed Giants to Langtree Park on Thursday, are without a win in three games after losing their Challenge Cup semi-final to Leeds Rhinos, followed by defeats at Catalans Dragons and then home to Hull FC.
You can see all the weekend's tries on the BBC Super League Show, available on the iPlayer all week.
