Sheffield Eagles' hopes of Super League promotion are all but over after losing 38-28 to a Hull KR side already guaranteed a top-flight spot.
Victory for Wakefield and Bradford tomorrow would condemn Sheffield to life in the second tier next term.
A Ken Sio brace and a Maurice Blair try put Rovers 16-6 up at the break after Eddie Battye put Eagles ahead.
Sio completed his hat-trick and while Eagles' Ryan Millar scored a treble, the hosts' fightback came too late.
Battye gave Sheffield the ideal start, who then had John Davies sin-binned after Sio hit-back.
While Rovers failed to make the most of their one-man advantage, Blair went over moments after Davies returned to the field as the visitors took control of the match, with Sio helping build a 10-point half-time lead with his second score.
Winger Sio added a third in between efforts from Quentin Laulu-Togagae and Millar for Sheffield.
Rovers tries for Adam Walker, Kris Welham and Matty Marsh came before Millar grabbed two quick scores late on.
Hull KR boss Chris Chester:
"I thought that we did enough in the second half and I don't think that the result was in any doubt.
"Sheffield threw a lot at us, they like to chance their arm and we knew that. I was disappointed with the start in both the first and second half, we came out really slow but once we got a foothold we were pretty dominant at times."
Sheffield Eagles head coach Mark Aston:
"The attitude and commitment is there for everyone to see. To go toe-to-toe and point for point in the second half leaves me immensely proud of my team.
"We let some soft tries in again which is something we have identified over the last couple of weeks, and if you do that against Super League teams then they punish you."
