Newcastle Thunder have confirmed that head coach Stanley Gene will leave the club with immediate effect.
The 41-year-old has been at the League 1 club since 2013, overseeing a play-off campaign in 2014 and an eighth-placed finish in the 2015 season.
Discussions between Gene and the Thunder board have seen head coach and club part ways.
"Both parties feel they can progress further by going their separate ways," said Thunder chairman Bill Midgeley.
"I'd like to take the time to thank Stanley for all his work here at Thunder and wish him all the very best for the future."
