Interim Salford head coach Ian Watson says he never doubted his team after they secured their Super League status.
The Red Devils can finish no lower than third in the Qualifiers following their 24-10 victory at Widnes on Sunday.
Watson has led Salford to seven wins in 10 games since taking temporary charge in July following Iestyn Harris's absence and subsequent departure.
"I never really doubted the playing ability that's within the group," he told BBC Radio Manchester.
"We wanted to try and win this competition and it's still there for us. We need to go to Hull KR and do a job next weekend.
"But the biggest thing is that we've secured our place in Super League for next year, and we can look forward and plan forward for that as of now."
Salford, who are second, travel to leaders Hull KR on Sunday for their final game of the season.
