Coventry Bears prop Morgan Evans has replaced the injured Ben Flower in Wales' Rugby League squad.

Wigan's Flower pulled out of the squad ahead of Wales' European Championship opener against Scotland because of a knee injury.

"Morgan played last year for us and acquitted himself well," Wales head coach John Kear said.

"His call up is warranted and he's always on our stand-by list. He's back in the squad and deservedly so."

Evans, 23, will join the squad ahead of Sunday's game against Keighley Cougars, a benefit match for the family of Danny Jones.

Former Wales international Jones was 29-years-old when he died from a heart problem after collapsing during a game in May.

Wales began their European Championship campaign with a 18-12 win over Scotland in Wrexham on 16 October.

Kear's side host France at Cardiff Arms Park on 30 October before the campaign ends with an away game in Ireland on 7 November.
