So, game one down, 6 - 4. SL turning on the style? Dazzling for Dave Woods? Or a proper arm wrestle in proper rugby conditions?
As a midlander l thought Rugby Union was for Rugby League players who had got too fat and too slow so the ball could be kicked out so they could get their breath back.
@111 or the floodlit trophy ?
Are Toronto Wolfpack drawn in Lancashire or Yorkshire Cup ?
Not being a RL buff looking from outside Super Leagues biggest problem this season no Hull v Hull KR derby no Leeds v Bradford derby so Super League has lost two of its three Marque fixtures. That said the Toronto experiment is interesting so if it could get Hull KR & Bradford back into it along with Toronto & Toulouse SL could have a big future to a wider audience needs to be a 16 team league.
Looking forward to the new season, good to have some decent sport to watch again.Plus it gives inadequate internet losers something to focus on, so it's good for other reasons too. Keep the trolling coming!!
87. Posted by wolf359 I doubt a Rugby League player could take the hits you saw in the Superbowl...Whilst I also like American Football (it and baseball are perhaps the world's two most parochial sports), the need for rugby players of both codes to take a hit and get up (without a timeout, oxygen, or a couple of minute delay for ad breaks) proves their toughness/fitness/athleticism.
As an RL fan of 30 odd years this is the first time I haven't been able to muster any enthusiasm for the new season. Sky and summer rugby has finally killed off any interest I have in the game. International RL is the same, particularly after watching last Autumn's internationals (including one live England) game. Stop trying to expand the game and concentrate on the heartlands.
#43 - If the BBC doesn't support RL why on earth do they present a weekly Super League highlights show, show Challenge Cup matches live, screened the 2015 test series against the Kiwi's live, the 2016 4 Nations live, are screening the next two world cups - most of which matches will be live in one format or another on BBC services?Hardly unsupportive!!!!!!!
#84, #85: Why do you bother to comment on a sport you hate? Do you really think that you are going to win over RL fans to your point of view? Personally, I hate Union and the way the Union establishment has treated RL for the last 100 plus years. However, I wouldn't stoop to making mindless, spiteful comments on other sports.
Just a side issue the challenge cup tie between two amateur clubs drew an audience of 20k plus when screened on line not bad for a dying sport. Ignore the Trolls they wait for this opportunity and spout the same stuff.
Televise dominoes or bring back "The Indoor League".
Nazis, persuading the Vichy gov. to outlaw it; union stifling its growth in Japan, Serbia, South Africa & Italy; Ady Spencer banned by RFU from the 1994 Varsity Rugby Union match due to playing league as a youngster (human rights abuse); trolling by those insecure and harbouring prejudice, with nothing better to do. Yet still thriving, still entertaining, still growing. Must be something about it?
Rugby League won't ever die here and Rugby Union won't die in Australia, but both will always be smaller than the other in those areas. It's why talk that one code is "better" is nonsense as it doesn't apply when you switch continents. It's not an argument to stop watching the one you enjoy either, or we mays well all watch football which is far more popular than either code put together!
