@353 Didn't the loathsome Inverdale intervene a few years ago to prevent a west London-based amateur rugby league club playing games at Esher RFC? He's involved with Esher, apparently. Writes in their programme. That sort of petulance sums him up. The BBC should have sacked oily Inverdale after his sexist Wimbledon commentating gaffe a few years ago.
He’s the physical embodiment of southern rugby. He has a kind face. The kind you want to smack!
Did anyone watch the England/Samoa RU game yesterday? Apparently, John Inverdale's face was a picture at half time when the screen flashed with news about England RLs win and reminding people to watch the highlights show. It seemed he was sneering about the game and the RL World Cup. He's an absolute disgrace - commentators are meant to be neutral. He has a track record of hating RL.
349 - Juggs - every Toronto game was live on Prem Sports this year so the crowds were there for all to see - as I'm sure your brother can confirm if he actually went to a game, both stands were more or less full for every game.Come on your brother doesn't really live their does he? Bet he works as a fork lift driver in Dundee but tells you he has a high flying job in Canada....😆😆😆
Juggernaut I can't comment on Toronto as I haven't been there but we have locals on our forums and they back the figures. I think both Salford and Sale use the access as an excuse I have found it quite easy. But as for massaging the crowd figure's I can guarantee that Warrington, Wigan and Saints are spot on and they never need to oversell the crowd figure's.
So the crowds of 6000 to 7000 that we see on TV at Toronto are fake are they. These Union trolls are a disgrace, just like the Union hierarchy have been for the last 122 years. Anyway. On to next week. Come on England. Do us proud.
#345 elbow been to sale games myself a few times, the AJ bell stadium is a nightmare to get to and from as you know, sales crowds have been hit and so has Salford’s,Toronto’s crowds have been published as 6 and 7000 but my brother lives there and says they have been barely a 1000
If you really want to get rid of these Trolls. whether they be RU/Soccer whatever.....just ignore them! I know some of you may find that difficult but it WILL work. Resist the urge to bite and they will get bored and drift away. The rest of of us can then discuss RL related topics, such as why the game was reported, positively, on most other news programs but was not mentioned on BBC Eve news???
I'm a 'new' visitor to this site. I used to post years ago when it was an open RL forum, as opposed to comments for different articles. I left when BBC showed their usual support for RL by closing the forum down. I was about to pull the plug anyway as I was sick and tired of the content being swamped by constant childish bickering between RL & RU trolls. Glad to see things have changed ..NOT.
To the union trolls which game do you think the players who play RU in the areas were league is strong watch, they are season ticket holders for the Wigans, Warrington and Saints. They may play ru but they follow league, they would have watched England in the World Cup and wanted them to win but yet we read your constant trolling and its your type who give the standard RU fans a bad reputation.
Juggernaut I always laugh at the crowds Sale publish and I look at the TV picture on the highlights show and think most must be elsewhere because I have been to that stadium many times and have a good idea what the crowd is by experience and Sale never get the actual fans in the stadium that they claim to have been there.
@trytasticYour comment claims that usually in the 1st ten comments on a RU HYS there is a comment from a RL fan ,yet of the 5 RU HYS's on the go none of them have a comment from a RL fan in the 1st ten comments. So clearly you're not being truthful.
So Jughead, you think that a crowd of 5000 in a population of over 7 million for the only team that play the sport in the area, in the biggest, best and most popular game on earth ( in your world) is good? Kicktastic , what do waiting lists prove? RL clubs in Wigan, Saints and Warrington are oversubscribed, most clubs run 2 or 3 teams at every age group?
As youngsters we played for Wigan RU colts on Saturday and St Pats on Sunday, teammates such as Joe Lydon, Andy Platt,Mike Greg etc we absolutely destroyed everyone we played. They couldn't cope with players actually running with the ball from all over the field. We got to some final v Notts I think and we were banned because they claimed our play and tackling was too dangerous.
338, Completely and utterly incorrect. In the Midlands, we have tackling at 8, rucks (2 a side) at 9, mauls at 9, Scrums (5 man) at 10, contested at 11, 8 man at 12, Line-outs at 12, lifting at 15. We have 30 players on our books at under 15, and there were 34 teams in the county cup at our age band. We have a waiting list, as do the other teams in our town, so sorry, try again.
