74: I don't recall anyone claiming Lebanon is a 'Power' in RL. Emerging nation etc. like many in RU.Are you sure you haven't Googled/Wiki'd it and are being a bit mischievous.Residential qualifications~.......probably similar to most other international sports.
I'm an England Fan but the Referee should have at least had a look at it!, I have Watched it & I probably just think that it is a Try!.
Tonga were robbed - Australia to win WC again
Ive upped my bet !100 quid and a couple of pies for England to beat Oz
@74 Lebanon is a squad of Aussies who have Lebanese ancestry. @75 The Lebanese league is not 'culture based' as it's never been part of Lebanese culture, it's in its infancy.@70 there was violence between Tonga and Samoan fans. How many players have been sent home too? RL has a problem with player behaviour while on tour. Remember England player Josh Hodgson recently jumping through a door.
@57 I'll have what your drinking!! Have you even watched this WC up you think oloughlin has been one of our worst players?! There's probably been no-one better, so much so that the periods where England have collapsed have all been when SOL has been off the field!! Almost as bad as the RU lot blaming Burgess for their failures at the Southern rugby WC to call SOL!
74 the local league in Lebanon is the only sport not culture based and is all inclusive, they also play in the universities and is getting backing from the government, the country decided that to compete at the World Cup they would use mainly heritage players but the players also have local players with them and are involved with developing the local game.
Off topic. I'm not an RL fan - watched as a preteen/teen when Eddie Waring commentated on Grandstand but had a look out of curiosity. Was surprised to see that Lebanon is a 'power' at the game as thought it was mainly played in Eng, Aus, Pacific Islands & NZ. Where do they play home matches? Is there a Lebanese league? Residential qualifications? I could google/wiki it but prefer true fan's view.
Fabulous game - there’ve been plenty in then World Cup already - and breathtaking drama. England can win the final, it’s unlikely but they can do it. League is an incredible sport, a raw experience without over- hype or prententiousness, and one whose honesty and integrity over nearly 125 years is something to be proud of. I’m not chippy - I just live my League!
Well said Dazza and I can’t wait for next Saturday. Will be a great way to wake up!
I've no axe to grind because I think the whole World Cup is a farce but I played the game for 20yrs and that was no ball strip in fact he didn't even touch the ball! He took the the players arm and he dropped it for an obvious knock-on!
