99. Uh? Chooks put 36 on Wigan in 2014. The Wigan pack was dominated last night. All starts up front as you know. SSTID
100: Agreed but in his time with the Bulldogs, Brett Morris has scored plenty similar tries in the NRL ! Always had some freakish strength which more than makes up for some lack of pace, for a winger - ideal as a Centre.Too early to write Gildart off, he’s still learning, is a young kid and has swapped his favourite Centre position to accommodate Sarginson who struggles to pass both sides.
@99 The right edge was poor. Gildart was made to look a turnstile
Wigan were poor defensively last night. Lam has coached the defence out of Wigan in a few short weeks. Morris was good but made to look excellent by the Wigan three quarters. We need neutral officials in these games. Aussie refs have no reservations about favouring an Aussie side, English refs are so worried about looking biased towards the English teams that they give everything the other way.
well done the PIES. And that's from a man from St. Helens
96 - Correct Davis was an amazing player the top 5 of his generation. Never said Tomkins was better, but he is a very good player & great to watch. I used to enjoy watching him and Shaun Johnson playing together in the NRL - had the makings of a great partnership, just never quite got there. Tomkins reputation made him a marked man but it did free up Johnson, he has his best season alongside Sam
93. "Great"? Lol. Was okay in his first season, good in attack dodgy in defence. Don't mention the press, they've got nothing to do with it. Jonathan Davies was far better than Tomkins.
I went last night - great occasion. Must make this event bigger every year !
Not sure if it was covered below but Hardaker was very poor last night. I’ve not seen much of him this year but if that’s what standard he is playing at now he’s not SL standard. Assume it was just an off night.
84, Tomkins had a great first season but was injured for his second season. He was never going to get an easy ride in the Press over there with the amount of money he cost and was being paid - the press wanted him to failSaying that Hodgson and Whitehead never set SL alight when the played in the UK just 2 decent players and now they are regarded as 2 of the best in the NRL - horses for courses.
Extremely impressed by the physical strength that Morris showed for those three tries. You can blame poor defence but I think sometimes you just have to take you hat off and applaud.
Reasonable result when you consider it's basically Premier League vs Championship in terms of budgets / salary caps.
