Cardiff Blues release four players

Cardiff Blues have confirmed the departure of fringe players Ben White, Tom Davies, Bryn Griffiths and James Loxton.

The players will leave the region at the end of the current season.

"I would like to wish them the best of luck with their future careers," said Blues boss Dai Young.

"Most of these players were signed to give us strength in depth, which is a luxury we can't afford to have with the cut in our budget

Australian born flanker White has made 50 appearance over five years but found his opportunities limited by the emergence of Sam Warburton.

Prop Tom Davies and lock Bryn Griffiths have each made six appearances after joining from Doncaster this season

Fullback and wing James Loxton, a product of the Blues Academy, is joining Connacht.

The Blues last week confirmed Wales international trio Bradley Davies, Leigh Halfpenny and Chris Czekaj had signed contract extentions.

Dafydd Hewitt, Josh Navidi, Andries Pretorius and James Down have also recently signed Blues contract extensions.

Flankers Sam Warburton and Martyn Williams and centre Jamie Roberts had already signed new deals with the region.
