Bristol have strengthened their squad with the signing of scrum-half Tom Slater from Cardiff Blues.

The 24-year-old has made 13 first-team appearances for the Welsh region this season, featuring twice in the Heineken Cup against Edinburgh and Castres.

Slater joined Cardiff from Coventry at the beginning of the 2009/10 season and played for Wales Sevens in 2009.

"I feel extremely proud to have committed to Bristol Rugby for the forthcoming season," Slater said.

"Bristol is a club with big ambitions and I'm very excited."

Slater becomes the third new addition in recent weeks, following announcements that Tristan Roberts (Doncaster) and Louis Silver (Worcester) will join the club at the end of 2010/11 campaign.
