Melrose triumphed 29-20 against Ayr at the Greenyards to clinch Scottish Premiership 1.
Damien Kelly's try, converted by Ross Curle, put Ayr ahead, but four penalties by Scott Wight gave Melrose a 12-7 half-time lead.
Kelly crossed the line again, but Melrose hit back with Gary Elder and Ross Miller going over and Wight kicking a further seven points.
Curle's penalty and converted try reduced Ayr's arrears but to no avail.
The title win is Melroses' first in 14 years and avenges their defeat to Ayr in last week's Scottish Premier Cup final at Murrayfield.
