Leicester captain Craig Newby believes his side can win the Premiership title.

The Tigers' play-off semi-final has been confirmed for Saturday, 14 May at Welford Road where they look likely to face either Gloucester or Northampton.

He told BBC Radio Leicester: "We set high standards. I wouldn't say it's being arrogant to say we want to win the Premiership.

"I'm sure the other three teams that make the play-offs won't just be happy with a semi-final as well."

And Newby warned against complacency going into the final league game of the season against London Irish.

The Exiles' hopes of a play-off place were ended by a 26-20 defeat by Northampton at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday.

"Its not going to be easy," Newby continued. "We've got a lot of work to do and we've got a little bit of time to sharpen up before Irish, who are dangerous.

"We've got some good training staff and they'll know how hard we should be training and what we need to work on so we'll trust them."

Leicester guaranteed a home semi-final tie after a 24-13 win against Newcastle at Kingston Park on Good Friday.
