Ospreys wing Richard Fussell has picked up two honours at the region's awards night at the Liberty Stadium.

Fussell, who joined the Ospreys from the Newport Gwent Dragons last summer, was named fans' player of the year and the coaches' player of the year.

He has scored eight tries in his 27 appearances this season and has featured on the wing and at full-back.

"I just do my job on the field, and to pick up these awards is the icing on the cake really," said Fussell.

"I've never really picked up awards like this before but since coming to the Ospreys I've improved my game so much, which has resulted in me getting these awards. It's something special for me."

Two months ago Fussell signed a contract extension keeping him at the Liberty Stadium until the summer of 2014.

Meanwhile, flanker Justin Tipuric, 21, received the votes of his team-mates and was presented with the players' player of the year award.

In his first season of senior rugby Tipuric has made 25 appearances for the region and became the second youngest Ospreys captain ever when he skippered his side against Leinster in January.

Prop Daniel Suter received the most improved elite youth development player award while fly-half Sam Davies was voted elite youth development player of the year.

And Perpignan-bound James Hook was recognised for setting a new Ospreys all-time points record of 793 during the season.
