Bath chief executive Nick Blofeld has said being drawn with holders Leinster in the Heineken Cup group stages is an exciting challenge for the club.
"We're very excited about the opportunity, but it's always going to be tough playing the reigning champions," he told BBC Radio Bristol.
"They're very impressive, they've got strength in depth, and the turnaround in the final was quite remarkable."
Glasgow and Montpellier complete Pool Three for the 2011/12 season.
Blofeld continued: "We want to measure ourselves against the best in Europe. That's been our ambition, and that's ongoing."
Bath, whose only success in the competition came with a 19-18 victory over Brive in 1998, exited in the group stages in the 2010/11 season.
