Leeds Carnegie have made their fifth signing of the close season with the capture of tight head prop David Young from Edinburgh.

The 26-year-old Leicester academy graduate moves back to England after two seasons in the Scottish capital.

Young, who has signed a one-year deal, told BBC Radio Leeds: "We've got a big season ahead of us and everyone wants to see us back in the Premiership.

"I believe that if the lads perform well then we will get back."

The Scotland A international also revealed that Leeds captain Andy Titterrell - a team-mate from Young's time at Gloucester - was instrumental in his move.

"He had some nice stuff to say about the club, that they were ambitious and had a good culture about them.

"I know Andy pretty well so his opinion on the club was definitely a deciding factor.

"With Andy and Mike MacDonald signing, it shows you that there is ambition at the club for them to gain promotion.

"From a rugby point of view, I think I'm stepping into a club that I hope and think will go places."

Young joins Ryan Burrows, Dan Hemingway, Joe Ford and Stevie McColl at Headingley as Leeds build for next season's Championship campaign.
