Gloucester's new hooker Matias Cortese says he has become more mature since his last spell in the Premiership.

The 25-year-old Argentina international, who arrived at Kingsholm this summer, played one season with Northampton in 2006/07.

"I feel different with this experience because when I came to Northampton I was a young guy and I didn't speak English," he told BBC Gloucestershire.

"But I've got married and have come here with my wife and it's now easier."

Cortese has previously played for Biarritz and Bayonne, and recently enjoyed a stint with Pampas XV in the Vodacom Cup in South Africa.

At the age of 20, he received his first international cap but failed to hold onto a place in the Argentina squad.

And he hopes to catch the eye of the national coaches by impressing in the Premiership next season: "At the moment playing here is a good opportunity for me and for my family.

"We have the chance to make it a good season. I can see for myself that we have a very nice group, all the guys train very hard and we must push for the team.

"I think if I play very well here and play a lot of rugby, they are going to see me and I hope the coaches in Argentina will call on me."
