Jersey 47-3 Loughborough Students

Jersey vs Loughborough in friendly
The game was the first chance to see Jersey's new signings in action

Jersey ran in seven tries to come from behind and beat Loughborough Students 47-3 in a pre-season game at St Peter.

An Andy Hall penalty opened the scoring for the visiting university side in the 10th minute.

But tries from Nick Trower (2), Michael Le Bourgeois, James Copsey (2) and summer signings Nick Griffiths and Guy Thompson secured the win for the islanders.

Le Bourgeois was successful with six of his seven conversion attempts.

It was the second Jersey win over the Students within the space of three months, following the play-off victory in May which clinched promotion for the Channel Islanders.

Jersey coach Ben Harvey said: "We defended well and when we found opportunities to score, we did.

"We lost our pattern for a bit just after half time but when we got that together I thought we finished the game off very well."

Loughborough Students are spending a week in the island as part of their build up to the new season.

Head coach David Morris told BBC Radio Jersey: "We thought it would be a great place to come pre-season.

"We're a vastly changed team. We've only got three players who played in the stating 15 last time we played here and it's very much about getting our guys to come together quickly."

The pre-season friendly was Jersey's only warm up match ahead of the new National League One campaign which starts on Saturday August 27 with a trip to Lancashire side Fylde.
