Redruth director of rugby Dave Penberthy says that his rebuilt squad will be strong enough to compete for promotion back to National League One.

After being relegated in May, the Reds have seen a number of their big names leave for pastures new.

But Penberthy said: "The mood around the camp is very positive.

"Looking at the group of players that we've got together, we're more than capable of competing at the top of this table," he told BBC Cornwall.

Penberthy's squad now boasts many home-grown players who he thinks will shine, starting with Saturday's first National League Two South home game against Shelford (15:00 BST).

"Looking at the group of players that we've got together, we're more than capable of competing at the top of this table," said Penberthy.

"It features a number of our colts that we've brought through over the years and we've also managed to attract some very good Cornish players.

"The whole of the squad have represented Cornwall at some level, 19 of them at senior level."
