Jersey Rugby Club have suspended top points scorer Michael le Bourgeois as police investigate allegations of a motoring offence.

The club will not give further details of the allegations the 21-year-old full-time professional faces.

"The club is disappointed to learn of an incident of this nature," said chairman Bill Dempsey in a statement.

Jersey face Birmingham & Solihull in their first ever National One home game on Saturday.

Le Bourgeois was the first home-grown player to earn a full-time professional contract at the club this summer and scored 307 points as Jersey were promoted to the third tier.

"It is something we intend to investigate fully in due course before deciding what action that will be taken, however we will await the completion of the current police investigation before we do this," added Dempsey.
