Guernsey RFC boss Jordan Reynolds says his side were not at their best, despite beating Hove 22-15 in their first ever match in London One South.
The island side, which was promoted last season, comfortably won their opening away fixture.
"I don't want to be too critical with ourselves, it was our first game, but at the same time we've got to raise the bar," he told BBC Guernsey.
"We really played under our best but hopefully we can get it right."
He added: "There's a lot of room for improvement, the players know that and I know that."
