RFU bans for Quins' Joe Marler & Gloucester's Will James

Will James and Joe Marler
James (l) and Marler were both found guilty of striking opponents

Harlequins' Joe Marler has received a three-week ban from the Rugby Football Union for striking an opponent.

The prop pleaded guilty to the offence which occurred during his side's win over London Irish on 3 September.

Gloucester lock Will James was cited for a similar offence in their defeat by Northampton on 4 September.

He pleaded guilty and was given a two-week suspension which was reduced to one week because of his good disciplinary record.

James can return to playing on 20 September while Marler will be ruled out of contention until 5 October.
