Injury-hit Worcester Warriors have signed Samoa international number eight Richard Muagututia.

Worcester coach Richard Hll was keen to bring in a new face after being left with only one player, Kai Horstmann, with experience in the role.

The 23-year-old 17-stone back row forward will join up with his new team-mates this week.

"He's a young player who will be experiencing club rugby outside Samoa for the very first time," said Hill.

"In many ways, Richard is similar to Ravai Fatiaki, who we will also welcome after the Rugby World Cup and he was very highly recommended by Brian Lima.

"Richard is a big talent. This is a big opportunity for him and, if he can make an impression and prove himself, then we will look to contract him for even longer," Hill told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

Muagututia has already toured Europe with the national team.

Having played in the Pacific Rugby Cup earlier this year for his country, he made his Test debut for Samoa against Japan in Tokyo, but did not get picked for their World Cup squad.

"It is exciting to join the Warriors and to play in England," said Muagututia. "I will play hard and for the future and hope to make a good impression with the supporters."
