Newcastle captain James Hudson has been banned for four weeks by the Rugby Football Union following an incident in last month's defeat by London Irish.
The 29-year-old was adjudged to have tackled a player in the air during the loss, and will miss two Premiership games against Saracens and Northampton.
In addition Hudson is ruled out of the Falcons' opening LV= Cup games against Cardiff Blues and London Irish.
Falcons will have the second rower available from Tuesday, 1 November.
The loss of Hudson will be a big blow for Newcastle who are rooted to the bottom of the Premiership and will target victory against the Saints for a second win of the competition.
Hudson joined Falcons from London Irish in the summer of 2009, and has since made 42 appearances for the club.
