The Cornish Pirates went down to their first defeat of the season as they lost 34-24 to Bedford in the Championship.
Pirates were 20-6 down at half-time after Stef Leibenburg and Joshua Bassett scored tries for the visitors.
Don Barrell's try then put Bedford further ahead before Blair Cowan struck to make it 27-19 with 20 minutes to go.
But Duncan Taylor scored three minutes later to seal Pirates' fate before Wes Davies' late try restored some respectability for the home side.
"They were fragile but unfortunately they went too far ahead on the scoreboard," Pirates coach Ian Davies told BBC Radio Cornwall.
"We gave some soft tries - they scored some good tries as well, don't get me wrong - and we just allowed them to stay out in front," he added.
