Director of rugby Sir Ian McGeechan believes a good run for Bath in LV= Cup can boost his side's performances in the Premiership this season.
Bath, who travel to Newport Gwent Dragons in the competition on Saturday, are seventh in the Premiership.
McGeechan told BBC Bristol: "[The LV= Cup] is important as we want to keep evolving our game.
"We've played pretty well in the Premiership but have probably thrown a couple of games away."
Bath, who have won three and lost three of their six games this season, were beaten 27-24 at Wasps last weekend and McGeechan is keen to keep faith in his younger players.
"We are just working at the moment with 28 players and five of those are academy boys," he added.
"It has been a benefit training the senior academy boys with the first-team squad. Looking forward, it looks well for the future."
