Cornish Pirates boss Chris Stirling was angry with his side after their 34-18 Championship win over Esher.
The Pirates were 18-17 down at half-time as Kevin Corrigan and Philip Mackenzie scored for Esher while Mike Myerscough, David Doherty and Rob Elloway got tries for the home side.
But a second try for Doherty and one for Tom Kessell, along with a Rob Cook penalty, sealed the win.
Stirling told BBC Radio Cornwall: "I'm pretty angry about the performance."
He added: "We lacked edge and we were our own worst enemies and we did keep the opposition in the game for longer then they should have been.
"I really did expect us to come away with a comprehensive victory. You could look at the score and think it was, but it was far from what we needed."
The bonus-point win put the Pirates second in the Championship table, five points off leaders Bristol.
