Front row Aston Croall has rejoined Harlequins for the rest of the season.
The 27-year-old returns to the Premiership leaders on an injury dispensation to cover long-term absentees Darryl Marfo and Matt Cairns.
Croall, who left Quins after four years to join Sale in 2010, can cover both hooker and prop.
"I have had a great year and a half at Sale and would like to thank everyone there, but I am excited to be returning to my old club," he said.
"I am looking forward to being back with the guys and getting stuck into training.
"Hopefully, I can help towards continuing the great start which Quins have made this season."
Director of rugby Conor O'Shea added: "I am delighted to be welcoming back a player whom we never wanted to see go in the first place but, unfortunately, due to the salary cap, we were unable to keep.
"He is an experienced performer and I know the players are excited to have him back in the squad."
