Guernsey captain Blair Campbell has paid tribute to his new scrum-half Malcolm Barnes.

The New Zealander scored two tries on his debut to help Guernsey to a 21-15 win at Dover in London One South.

Replacement Andy Bailey got the other try while Luke Jones and Nick Merrien kicked penalties for Guernsey.

"We've got the league leaders next week and with him (Barnes) onboard we should be able to get a good result," Campbell told BBC Guernsey.

But Campbell says there is still a lot for his side to work on ahead of their meeting with Chichester next week.

"We started well like we normally do, and once we started getting on top of them we eased off like we do normally.

"We could have played a lot better, but we got the victory so we have to be happy with that."
