Cambridge director of rugby Bob Crooks has praised his side's response to last week's 54-13 thrashing by Jersey.

Crooks, who questioned his side's desire against Jersey, saw Cambridge turn in a much improved performance to beat Cinderford 23-16 at the weekendexternal-link.

"I know they're young," he told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire. "But I wouldn't swap them for the world, even after last week's performance.

"We're in it together and the boys stood up."

Crooks was particularly pleased with the contribution of dual-registered Northampton Saints youngsters Anders Mogensen and Alex Day.

Scrum-half Day created two chances for wing Mogensen to cross the whitewash.

"Anders I thought was exceptional," said the Cambridge boss. "I thought his movement was outstanding.

"Alex fitted into what we did. I'm really pleased with him. Clearly he enjoys playing for us."
