Cornish Pirates form not acceptable - Chris Stirling

The Pirates led slip a big lead as they lost at Bristol last week

Cornish Pirates elite performance director Chris Stirling says his side's form over the first half of the season is "not acceptable".

The Pirates have won six of their opening 11 matches as well as drawing three and losing two and sit fourth in the 12-team Championship.

"Winning six games is not acceptable," Stirling told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"We've got 11 return matches and we'll be aiming for a lot better than six wins, that's for sure."

After the 22 regular season matches the top eight sides in the Championship play off for the chance to get promoted to the Premiership.

The Pirates let slip a 16-point lead as they lost at Bristol in the Championship last week.
