Wales Sevens have won the plate at the International Rugby Board Series in Australia after beating Samoa 26-15.
Tom Habberfield scored two tries with Harry Robinson and Tom Prydie also crossing for Paul John's side.
Having lost 33-5 against eventual winners Fiji in the main competition, Wales were placed in the plate competition.
They defeated France 14-12 in the semi-final before securing victory over Samoa in the final.
In reaching the last eight of the main competition, Wales had beaten Tonga 24-7, Scotland 14-12 and England 21-7 at the Gold Coast Sevens.
Wales captain Richie Pugh was proud of his young side's efforts and told the IRB website: "They really stepped up.
"Welsh rugby is on a high at the moment and there is no reason it can't drop down to the Sevens level. It is really good for the youngsters."
