Tim Visser inspired Edinburgh to a thumping victory over Aironi at Murrayfield.
First-half tries from David Denton, Nick de Luca and two by Visser were all converted by Greg Laidlaw.
A touchdown by Irvine-born George Biagi was the only score by the Italians in the first period.
The second half saw Visser score his 10th try of the season, while Lee Jones and Mark Leck brought up 50 points for the Murrayfield side.
Edinburgh went into the game having never lost to the Italians at home and with Michael Bradley's side boasting a record of six wins from their eight home matches this season.
The hosts opened the scoring when Laidlaw's kick was gathered by David Denton, who then powered his way over the line, with Laidlaw converting.
De Luca ran clean through the Italian centres and sent a beautiful pass to Visser who scored his side's second try, Laidlaw again making good the conversion.
Visser then compounded Aironi's misery as he crossed the line for his second try of the night.
The visitors fought back with a try after Harry Leonard's chip-kick fell to the Scots-born George Biagi who scored. However, the Italian side failed to convert to leave the score at 21-5.
Edinburgh extended their lead with a well-placed penalty kick from Laidlaw on the half-hour; a De Luca try and Laidlaw's fourth conversion of the night saw the hosts continue to profit.
Visser powered over the line for his third try of the night after Leonard placed a pin-point accurate chip-kick into space, for Visser to pounce for his 10th try of the season. Laidlaw's trusty boot then made it 38-5.
An even better chip from Phil Godman provided the sixth try of the night for Edinburgh, this time Jones making the catch to run over the Aironi line, before Laidlaw missed his first conversion of the night.
Visser was denied his fourth try by a great tackle from Aironi's Tito Tebaldi, but scrum-half Leck powered over the line.
Stand-off Phil Godman took over kicking duties from captain Laidlaw to make the conversion and see Edinburgh hit the 50-point mark.
Aironi picked up from a ruck close to the Edinburgh try line to allow flanker Filippo Ferrarini to push over to claim a late consolation.
